BBL SkinTyte Belfast
BBL light treatment for redness and pigmentation with lower face and neck skin tightening.
At Woodford Medical on the Lisburn Road in Belfast, BBL SkinTyte combines two Sciton light treatments in one appointment. It is designed for people who are concerned about redness, sun spots or uneven pigmentation as well as early jowling, reduced jawline definition or crepey skin on the neck.
Sciton BBL® uses broadband light to target visible redness and unwanted pigmentation. SkinTyte® then uses infrared light to heat the deeper layers of the skin in a controlled way, supporting collagen remodelling and improving the appearance of mild laxity through the lower face, jawline and neck.
Who is BBL SkinTyte suitable for?
This treatment may be suitable if you are concerned about:
- Early jowling or a less defined jawline
- Mild laxity through the lower face
- Loose or crepey skin on the neck
- Redness, flushing, thread veins or redness associated with rosacea
- Sun spots, unwanted pigmentation or uneven tone caused by UV exposure
BBL SkinTyte is intended for early to moderate skin changes and for patients looking for a non surgical option with minimal downtime. It is not a replacement for surgery where there is significant laxity. Your clinician will assess your skin, medical history and suitability, then explain what can realistically be achieved.
How does BBL SkinTyte work?
Sciton BBL
Sciton BBL® uses carefully selected pulses of broadband light to target unwanted redness, flushing, thread veins, redness associated with rosacea, sun spots and pigmentation caused by UV exposure. The treatment is tailored to the concerns seen during your assessment rather than applying the same approach to every area.
Sciton SkinTyte
SkinTyte® uses repeated pulses of infrared light to heat the deeper layers of the skin in a controlled way. This supports collagen remodelling and is focused on the lower face, jowls, jawline and neck to improve the appearance of mild skin laxity and crepey neck skin.
What happens at your appointment
Initial consultation
We begin by discussing your concerns, medical history, suitability and what you would like to improve. Your clinician will assess whether BBL and SkinTyte are appropriate for your skin and set realistic expectations before treatment begins.
VISIA skin analysis
VISIA imaging gives us a detailed baseline assessment of redness, pigmentation and sun damage. It helps guide the treatment plan and allows us to monitor changes over time.
Clinical photography
Standardised photographs are taken before treatment, including clear views of the lower face, jawline and neck.
Sciton BBL treatment
The BBL treatment is tailored to visible areas of redness, flushing, sun damage, sun spots and unwanted pigmentation. You may feel a brief warm snapping sensation as each pulse is delivered.
SkinTyte treatment
Infrared light is applied to the lower face, jowl area and neck. The area is heated gradually and the skin temperature is carefully monitored throughout. Most patients describe a sustained warm sensation.
Jawline assessment
The doctor may also assess the platysma muscle and its effect on the jawline. Where appropriate, additional medical treatment can be discussed privately and considered separately following a full consultation.

Why the platysma muscle matters
The platysma is a broad, thin muscle that extends from the neck into the lower face. Its downward and outward pull can contribute to early jowling, loss of jawline definition and visible neck bands in some people. Understanding this muscle helps explain why a personalised assessment of the lower face and neck is important.
What to expect afterwards
There is usually minimal downtime. The skin may feel warm and look mildly pink for a short time. Pigmented areas can temporarily darken before they gradually fade. Most people can return to their normal routine immediately, although you will be given individual aftercare and sun protection advice.
When will I see results
Changes from the BBL element may become visible as redness and pigmentation settle. SkinTyte results develop more gradually as collagen remodels over the following weeks and months. The aim is a clearer, more even complexion with a gradual improvement in the firmness of the lower face and neck. Results vary according to your skin, the concerns being treated and your individual response.
For the best overall outcome, we usually recommend a course of three treatments. Your clinician will advise on timing and whether a course is right for you.
Frequently asked questions
Is BBL a laser treatment
BBL stands for broadband light. It is a light based treatment rather than a laser, although many patients search for it as BBL laser treatment. Sciton BBL uses selected wavelengths of light to target pigment and redness in the skin.
Can BBL SkinTyte improve jowls and loose neck skin
SkinTyte can improve the appearance of early jowling, mild lower face laxity and crepey neck skin by heating the deeper layers of the skin and supporting collagen remodelling. The change is gradual and results vary. More significant laxity may require a different treatment approach.
Does BBL SkinTyte treat redness and pigmentation at the same appointment
Yes. The BBL part of the appointment is used to target suitable areas of redness, flushing, thread veins, redness associated with rosacea, sun spots and unwanted pigmentation. SkinTyte is then focused on the lower face and neck to address firmness.
How many BBL SkinTyte treatments will I need
We usually recommend a course of three treatments for the best overall outcome. The number and timing of treatments will be confirmed after your consultation and VISIA skin analysis.
How much does BBL SkinTyte cost in Belfast
A single BBL SkinTyte treatment at Woodford Medical Belfast costs £350. A prepaid course of three treatments costs £995.
Is there any downtime
Downtime is usually minimal. Temporary warmth and mild pinkness are common, and treated areas of pigmentation may darken before fading. Your clinician will explain the expected response and aftercare for your skin.
